Helping young people understand biodiversity and the role of fungi in the environment, encouraging cross-curricular links between Arts, Science, English, Music and History, and celebrating all who take part!

Inspired by fungi

With fungi capturing our attention and making increasing appearances in television, film, art, and music, now is the perfect time to celebrate these amazing organisms, essential to life on Earth! Fungi Connect aims to encourage young people up to age 18 to become inspired by the fungi around them, and to create their own pieces of work all about the Kingdom Fungi.

In 2024 nine schools, youth groups, forest schools and home-schoolers below got involved and sent us their fungus-inspired work, which is displayed below. We were delighted to see young people being inspired by fungi in this way.

We are open for entries in 2025!

School or youth groups just need to sign up to take part, then any young person within the 'team' can submit their fungus inspired work. We'd love some cross-curricular connections to be made between the arts, science, music, and more!

Individuals can sign up to take part as a 'Team' of one, or they can get together with other young people - family, friends on the street, or any other group - to form their own Team.

This prize is a fully supported indoor mushroom growing experience tailored to your group’s choice! This hands-on project will give young people the opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of fungi, sustainability, and food production while growing their own delicious and nutritious mushrooms.

The winning groups will receive:

A complete mushroom growing kit with all necessary materials
Step-by-step guidance on setup and care
