This unique art exhibition explores the cultural world of fungi through a lens of scientific enquiry. By bringing together the work of leading contemporary artists, Living Labyrinths suggests ways to reimagine our relationship with the earth. It explores themes of symbiosis, and biodiversity, as well as concepts from medical mycology. Through artworks in a range of media including ceramic, glass, photography, painting and textile, Living Labyrinths offers thought-provoking interpretations of mycorrhizal networks. The exhibition considers how fungi shape both our physical and conceptual worlds. Newly conserved dried specimens, natural history drawings and lantern slides from across RAMM’s collections of fungi have inspired two new art commissions. A large-scale drawing of the human mycobiome by Gemma Anderson-Tempini, and bio-sonic sound art of mycelial networks by Jason Singh feature in the exhibition. Also on display will be watercolours of fungi by Beatrix Potter, better known as the children’s author and illustrator, and Cy Twombly’s influential collage series Natural History, Part I, Mushrooms from 1974. These major loans will be displayed alongside innovative and inspiring work by eight internationally renowned contemporary artists: Sian Bonnell, Seana Gavin, Andy Harper, Hilde Hauan Johnsen, Lucy Mercer, Jo Pearl, Chantal Powell, and Holly Stevenson.

Join Forest Therapy Practitioner and fungi enthusiast Poppy Wildman in the woodlands to discover and discuss the iconic Amanita Muscaria fungi, as part of the British Mycological Society’s ‘The Big Fly Agaric’. From identification and lookalikes to uses and folklore, this deep dive into the life of the world’s most famous fungi will be both educational and exciting. There will also be an opportunity to enjoy a short forest bathing invitation at the end to encourage deeper relaxation and nature connection. This event will take place outdoors and will involve walking.

The Botanic Garden is a great place to come and look for wild fungi, you’ll find all types of mushroom-friendly habitat here – woods, fields, lawns and flower beds. Some of our fungi are very special. We have wild mushrooms that have been found nowhere else in Wales, fungi that are rare across the UK and on our Waun Las National Nature Reserve, we have a meadow that has an internationally important collection of multi-coloured waxcap fungi. We also have some of the most bizarre and beautiful fungi on earth. Explore the weird and wonderful world of fungi for yourself by coming along to the event. There will be a series of captivating talks and tours, activities for all ages and a fungal display where you can explore their fascinating and intricate details for yourself up close.

Join us for a relaxed stroll through Richmond Park and some of the greenest parts of Richmond and Barnes. It's a great chance to stretch your legs, enjoy fresh air, and make new friends. We are championing fungi on this walk and will be fungi spotting along the trail. We will be visiting 6 of our phone boxes on the walk: 1. Ted, the climate hope box 2. Sophie, the sustainable food box 3. Bertie, the biodiversity box 4. Freddy, the fungi box 5. Tilly, the trees box 6. Wendy, the wetlands box We will meet up and start the walk at Ted outside the Ted Lasso store in Richmond. You will be able to see a phone box at the back of the store. Dogs, prams and children are welcome, although this is one of our longer walks so please consider timings carefully. We walk at a slow pace so people can chat, take in the scenery and enjoy the interactive content on the Box Walks app.

Join the reserve team on National Fungus Day on a guided walk around The Lodge nature reserve and learn about the weird and wonderful lives of fungi. National Fungus Day is on 10th October, but we will have another walk on Sunday 8th November. With more than 700 species recorded at The Lodge, we will look at ways to identify fungi and tips on how to photograph them but be aware that this is not a photography workshop. This guided walk is designed for adults and teens with a general interest in fungi and does not focus on what is edible or poisonous for potential foragers. It is not a foraging walk, and fungi will not be collected for consumption.

As part of UK Fungus Day, discover the different types of fungi that conservation specialists encounter while caring for HMS Victory, and learn why monitoring and managing them is essential to preserving this iconic historic vessel for future generations. Meet the experts who work behind the scenes, explore the science of conservation, and have a go at some of the techniques used to assess and care for the ship's historic fabric. Test water samples using pH indicator strips to understand how environmental conditions affect preservation, or try cleaning a sample of timber using specialist conservation methods. Whether you're interested in history, science, heritage, or conservation, this is a unique opportunity to speak directly with the team responsible for protecting one of Britain's most important historic ships. A private tour of my ceramics studio in the garden where I make ceramic mushrooms and mycelium bowls. These ceramic pieces were exhibited at Collect Art Fair 2026 (Somerset House) with The Joanna Bird Gallery and also at Daylesford. I don't open up my studio often but if you contact me through my website you will be able to browse and purchase the full range of mushrooms and mycelium vessels that I have recently made and see the environment that I work in. You could also have a walk on Dover's Hill which is a fantastic National Trust spot with far reaching views and a very good place to see mushrooms in the woodland.

Sorby Fungus Group (Sheffield area) will be celebrating UK Fungus Day with Sheffield City Council and Shire Brook Heritage Group at Shire Brook Valley Nature Reserve. We will be based at Shire Brook Visitor Centre, off Stone Lane, Sheffield, S13 7BR. Grid Ref, SK 41285 84314. The car park is located before the visitor centre. This is a free family friendly fungi event for UK Fungus Day to learn about fungi. There will be fungi displays, fungi information, craft activities, refreshments and a show and tell fungi display. A self-guided fungus trail with a map will run from 11am -3pm from the Shire Brook Visitor Centre. A guided Fungi Walk will start from the Visitor Centre at 1pm. No booking needed.

We will be having a competition for the children to find knitted mushrooms hidden around the field with fungus picture books as prizes. There will also be face painting and one of our members will be dressed up as a fly agaric. The table will be loaded with educational material and experts to answere any questions

Sámi artist Hilde Hauan Johnsen has travelled from Sápmi, Norway, in the Arctic region to show her artwork in RAMM’s exhibition Living Labyrinths: Art and Fungi. For Hilde’s first public talk in the UK, she discusses her fungi-dyed textiles alongside a philosophical approach to making and ecology with Exeter-based artist Amy Shelton. Hilde is a textile artist based in Northern Norway whose artistic practice is rooted in the land where she lives. Johnsen works with natural dyes from foraged plants and fungi. She uses these materials to interrogate the concept of national borders. In Johnsen’s work, natural dyeing becomes a way of holding landscape and memory together. Amy Shelton is a visual artist and founder of Honeyscribe, a visual arts charity that leads creative projects centred on people, plants, and the natural world. Amy creates botanical artworks of plants which she gathers and preserves. By collaborating with other specialists, each artwork illuminates a specific locality, highlighting the relationships between biodiversity, human and environmental well-being. Join Mycologist Dr Christian Taylor and Honor Wolf from Fungiphilia for a day of fungal fascination. We will start the day with a foray along the beautiful Erme estuary which is a SSSI. Then back to the wonderful Mothecombe gardens for a packed lunch and two short talks with hot drinks and snacks. After lunch we will learn microscope skills and get hands on to look at fungi in detail. This event is suitable for all levels of experience 12 years and up. No dogs please. Fungi Town is the annual 'mushroomification' of Hay-on-Wye, when a whole town gets together to celebrate the kingdom of fungi. Visitors can expect family-friendly talks from leading fungi experts, walks and workshops, stalls, delicious food, and even a parade. Events take place in Hay Castle, the Globe at Hay, and in shops and venues across town. Mushroom costumes are optional.

The Edinburgh Fungi Festival (EFF) brings together science, art, and local knowledge in a weekend of education and appreciation of Kingdom Fungi for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Expect interactive workshops (i.e. mushroom cultivation, fermentation, making mycomaterials), guided walks (led by expert foragers), & varied talks (i.e. fungi in folklore, Scottish fungus identification, advanced microscopy). The event is free and held in a fully accessible venue, with forays in surrounding woodlands. All ages and backgrounds welcome!
