Work submitted for Fungi Connect by team
Badger Forest School -
Badger Forest School has been enjoying taking groups and participants on various fungi forays and here’s a little selection of some of our finds…

One of our leaders, Steph, found this beast! We think it’s the biggest giant puffball we’ve found…. Some of it has been used for cooking with our Home Ed groups!

The children have had the opportunity to look and investigate fungi in different mediums (they loved the fact some can glow under UV light!) and had a go at creating mushroom sculptures with clay
One of our Home Ed groups got involved with some mycelium inspired games with the aim to improve their understanding of how and why mushrooms communicate. They also felt inspired to use the oak gall they had created on another session to make artworks.

Children have enjoyed trying different mushroom recipes including garlic mushrooms, mushrooms on flatbreads and mushroom pie!

We are so fortunate to work in beautiful woodland spaces and this year in particular seems like a bumper year for fungi!
We’ve been challenging the team to see if they can find all the colours of the rainbow in their fungi foray… and today purple (the last colour) was found!
